Our client located in Doha, Qatar currently has an opening for an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager. Reporting to the Director of General Services and Maintenance, the company wants to recruit an individual who has the ability to enthuse and energize employees on the importance of safety in the workplace by organizing and managing safety programs. Some of the other aspects of the job will require you to formulate policies and educate employees on safety standards, risk prevention, accidents and fire prevention. You will also be involved in ensuring that the company complies with both, Municipal and State legislation. Your detailed responsibilities will be to: · Oversee the development, management and the implementation of a variety of safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by Municipal and State legislation. · Oversee the management, implementation and coordination of safety programs and fire prevention initiatives, to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, death and financial losses. · Develop accident - presentation and loss control systems and programs for incorporation into the operational policies of the company. · Oversee and manage the response to and investigation of reports of hazardous conditions, review recommendations and / or take appropriate action to mitigate potential safety, health and environmental risks. · Coordinate the Division annual budgets and assist in the development and justification of capital expenditure budgets related to environmental, health and safety. · Establish and implement short and long term goals for implementing policies and processes, and evaluate their effectiveness. · Ensure contractor code compliance by managing the interaction between various departments within the facility. · Oversee the development and presentation of the environmental, health and safety training. · Lead environmental programs as they relate to air, water, solid and hazardous waste. · Perform hazard assessments (task, job, chemical, etc) · Ensure proper maintenance and use of safety equipment · Serve as a liaison between site and regulatory agencies
· Qualifications: * Must have a Bachelor's degree with 5 - 7 years relevant experience in the area of Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment. · Preference will be given to those having a designation of either a Certified Safety Professional or an Associate Safety Professional. · Ability to supervise and train employees. · Ability to examine and re-engineer operations and procedures, formulate policies and develop and implement new strategies and procedures. · Skills in budget preparation and fiscal management. · Knowledge of chemical, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene and / or environmental health standards. · Knowledge of Municipal and State safety regulations, protocols and /or procedures. · Strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills
